STATEMENT ON THE POSTPONEMENT OF THE 8TH BIENNIAL SAMEA CONFERENCE 2021
Facing the COVID-19 pandemic and its various effects, countries around the world are taking actions towards the safety and health of their people and at SAMEA so are we, our members. Your safety and health are important to us! The SAMEA Board and the 2021 conference organising committee has reached a collective decision to regrettably postpone the 2021 SAMEA Conference to 2022 to further reduce the transmission of the virus.
Despite this, we are planning an exciting programme over the year, including webinars, capacity development workshops in June, developing a research agenda, etc with some surprises to come in place of the 2021 Conference. We will also be exploring ways of providing additional services to support the M&E profession to make a bigger difference in addressing the challenges which face us.
SAMEA will continue to keep you informed about the new dates with due notice allowing you to prepare the necessary. Traditionally the conference would take place in October so if all goes well, we look forward to seeing you physically in October 2022.
SAMEA extends its gratitude to the frontline workers for their courage, dedication, commitment, and passion in responding to COVID-19 in South Africa and around the globe. We would also like to offer our sympathies to all who have been affected by this pandemic.
SAMEA encourages everyone to continue adhering to the protocols. Let’s continue to do our part in keeping ourselves and others safe!
