Back Ground

The South African Monitoring and Evaluation Association (SAMEA) strives to cultivate a vibrant community that will support, guide and strengthen the development of monitoring and evaluation (M&E) as an important discipline, profession and instrument for empowerment and accountability in South Africa. One of SAMEA’s objectives is to build Monitoring and Evaluation Capacity, provide platforms for networking and community building. To achieve these objectives SAMEA annually offers capacity-building workshops and biennially hosts a large international conference. SAMEA capacity building workshops are held over two weekdays and are attended by at least 400 paying participants from around South Africa and internationally.The association also hosts its Annual General Meeting during the same period.

A biennial conference is an important event in the calendars of M&E professionals in South Africa and other African countries. Held over five days, the conference brings together hundreds of international delegates. The last conference was held on 21- 25 October 2019 and was attended by over 500 delegates from 22 countries. The conference features two and a half days of capacity building workshops and two and a half days of conference discussions. A hundred and fifty papers were presented in the conference in seven parallel sessions. The association also hosts other events during the conference such as the M&E awards ceremony, Author’s night, book launches, and the Annual General Meeting.

Proposals are hereby invited from capable conference organising companies to sign up a three-year contract, where they will undertake and implement comprehensive arrangements for the successful hosting of one conference and two Capacity Building Workshops.
