Nordic Craft: Monitoring and Evaluation Associate
Nordic Craft is a small research and monitoring and evaluation consultancy. We seek to understand, learn from, and improve the efficiencies and effectiveness of development intervention strategies aimed at improving people’s lives and living conditions across Africa. We provide monitoring and evaluation consulting, programme advisory, implementation support and research. Led by Dr Myles Oelofse, Nordic Craft is a small but agile consulting company that typically partners with other consultants in bespoke teams for assignments. Whilst we work across sectors to improve social well-being, create economic growth, and promote sustainable development, our core fields of expertise include agriculture and rural development, natural resource management, resilience, environment and health systems.
We are seeking an ambitious candidate to assist us with our growing portfolio of assignments. Tasks include identifying and developing new work opportunities, design and co-development of evaluation and research frameworks, literature reviews, field data collection, data analysis and writing of reports. Your inclusion in ongoing work streams will depend on your academic background and skill set.
It is important to us that you have solid insight into the M&E field, and you hold as a minimum an Honours degree in field relevant to our scope of work, and that you are able to work independently.
This opportunity is open to people interested in growing the company portfolio, and we prioritize someone that sees opportunities and is interested in growing their own profile in the M&E sector. You may be a recent M&E graduate looking to gain experience, or you may already be working as an independent consultant in the M&E sector looking to be part of our team.
We are based in Cape Town, but given our operational model where much of the work is done remotely, we are interested in speaking to candidates from across South Africa.
What we offer
We have a small core team and our operational model is to work at scale by drawing on a strong collegial network of tried and tested independent evaluation consultants. We will include you as a part of our core team, and offer you the opportunity to define the scope of your work together with us. We offer opportunity for growth and a rewarding role, but one which is defined by your own level of engagement and success.
If you are interested in this, we invite you to submit your CV and a short (no more than one page) description of why you would like to work with us. We will invite potential candidates to a short ‘meet and greet’ discussion with us, and we can take the conversation from there.
Please send your CV and letter of interest to Dr Myles Oelofse [email protected]
We will keep this opportunity open until we find the right candidate. Kindly note that only shortlisted applicants will be contacted. We reserve the right to not make an appointment, should we not find the right candidate. Nordic Craft will not be liable for any costs related to the application process or any costs related to the uptake of the position.
