Key tasks will include the following:
  • Develop and manage a repository of all NECT intervention and support data
  • Establish and manage programme specific databases
  • Support the Primary School Reading Improvement Programme (50% of time allocation)
  • Technical support to other NECT programmes on data related matters
  • Support and manage data collection, processing and administration 
  • Clean, analyse and synthesise data for reporting
  • Prepare data for presentations and publications
  • Assist with data collection planning and instrument development
  • Contribute to data collection planning
  • Engage with partners and funders on specific data related initiatives (e.g. ETDPSETA Indicium design/ move to online)

 

Relevant knowledge,  experience, skills and competencies required:

  • A background in research, analysis or analytics is preferred
  • Willingness to work with education related data
  • Knowledge of database development and management
  • Proficiency in statistical analysis techniques
  • High level proficiency in use of Excel
  • Ability to use STATA, R or other relevant statistical packages
  • Experience in managing data capture, cleaning, analysis and development of high quality reports
  • Ability to advise project teams on data requirements and reporting

 

Education/Qualification and Languages Required: 

  • A degree or a higher qualification in Statistics/Economics/Mathematics/Development Studies/Informatics or a related field is preferred
  • 2 years’ work experience
  • Some knowledge of the South African education system, policies and players 
  • Excellent writing and presentation skills
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills, work in a high pressure environment,  flexibility, confidentiality, initiative
  • High numeracy skills, high attention to detail, analytical, articulate, effective interpersonal and communication skills.
