Eastern Cape-SAMEA Competencies Validation Workshop
The South African Monitoring and Evaluation Association (SAMEA) Board together with CLEAR-AA are pleased to invite you to the upcoming consultative workshops to discuss Evaluator Competencies on the African continent. The purpose of the workshop is twofold: firstly, it is to validate and finalise the Draft SAMEA Competencies. The second purpose is to provide feedback on the CLEAR-AA initiative to develop a harmonised set of competencies in collaboration with institutions of higher learning, for purposes of improving evaluation training and education on the continent.
SAMEA has been engaged in process to define Competencies for South African evaluators. The iterative process began in 2016, SAMEA has the 5th Draft Competencies comprising 52 Competencies across 7 Competency domains. The Draft Competencies are a result of research and consultations with SAMEA membership and partners through the SAMEA listserv, Eval Cafés and the SAMEA Biennial Conference. In the case of both, the CLEAR-AA and SAMEA sets of Competencies, feedback was sought from evaluators and evaluation stakeholders through platforms such as the AfrEA Conference.
The workshops will provide a platform for evaluators from various sectors and fields of practice to:
a) Engage with the Competencies and where this fits within the Africa-wide evaluation practice Competencies
b) Validate the Draft Competencies
c) Start exploring how the Competencies can be used in the country
Details of the venue will be communicated soon. Please will you kindly confirm your attendance before or by 14 May 2020 by emailing Marla Naidoo, SAMEA Administrator at [email protected]
