Call for Professional Development Workshop Proposals (closed)

Written by Bert, last updated 25 May 2009.

The South African Monitoring and Evaluation Association (SAMEA) will be holding its second National Conference August 17 through 21, 2009 in Gauteng. During the first 2.5 days, SAMEA will sponsor professional development workshops for conference participants. SAMEA is calling for proposals from individual consultants, universities, training providers, and/or companies/NGOs to facilitate professional development workshops.

Courses can range in length between ½ day, 1 day and 2 days long.

The conference venue will host the professional development workshops, but in some cases (such as the need to use computers) you may propose an off-site venue.

Please note that submission of a proposal does not guarantee acceptance. A SAMEA events committee will be reviewing proposals prior to selecting successful proposals. Also note, the course will be held only if there are at least 10 participants. If the course is cancelled due to lack of interest, then registered participants would be offered places in other courses or their money refunded. The maximum number of participants would be recorded in the potential course offerer's proposal.

We would like to encourage a multiplicity of course offerings. Universities, private training providers, South African Government organisations such as STATS SA, independent consultants, etc. are all encouraged to submit proposals.

The proposals should not exceed 3 pages and must clearly articulate:

  1. Course Title

  2. Facilitator Name(s), background and qualifications

  3. Contact details

  4. Course length (either half day, full day or two days long)

  5. Course Description (include learning outcomes, course methodology)

  6. Course History (is the course developed for this purpose only or is it an existing course)

  7. Target Participants (beginner, intermediate, advanced and any special requirements e.g. stats background, experience in M&E, maximum number of participants, etc.)

  8. Special Requirements (e.g. participants to sit at circular tables, data projector, all participants to have access to computers/internet, special venue required, etc.)

  9. Course Materials

  10. Accreditation (a brief discussion about whether the course is accredited, note it is our expectation that most courses will not be accredited)

  11. SAMEA will pay you a per course fee and you are required to indicate formal acceptance of what will be paid to you for teaching the course, note if less than 10 participants register there is a chance that your course may be cancelled:
