AfriMAP, the Africa Governance Monitoring and Advocacy Project, is an initiative of the Soros Foundation Network's four African foundations, and works with national civil society organizations to conduct systematic audits of government performance in three areas: the justice sector and the rule of law; political participation and democracy; and effective delivery of public services. AfriMAP aims to: Produce reports identifying achievements and challenges in complying with international standards relating to human rights, the rule of law and accountable government, and suggesting means to improve performance Support and promote the active engagement of civil society organisations as independent monitors of government Complement and engage in critical dialogue with the African Union and its monitoring efforts, particularly the African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM)
