The Wits Programme Evaluation Group, University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg is organising a virtual conference on methodology in programme evaluation during April 2010. The conference aims to attract papers, case studies and workshop or teaching materials, from persons working both in the developed and the developing world. It also aims to stimulate networking, email contact and discussion among conference contributors.

The conference is being held between April 7th and April 9th 2010, when upload of draft conference contributions takes place. Ongoing contact with and between contributors then continues over the rest of this year. Contact will be directly with contributors by email, or via internet discussion groups. This culminates in a week of email contact and discussion scheduled during November 2010.

We are asking all evaluation associations internationally to circulate an invitation to participate, and also directing the invitation to appropriate university departments,  educational networks and associations, as well as donor agencies and NGO’s involved in programme evaluation. More information relative to the procedures, deadlines and costs of making a contribution (a paper, case study or set of teaching or training materials) can be found in the Call for Papers, which can be downloaded from the conference website at
http://wpeg.wits.ac.za

The conference proceedings will be published. Our aim as a programme committee is to create a resource which will be useful not only to evaluation practitioners, but also to those teaching and training programme evaluation in both developing and developed countries. Costs of participation and of accessing the proceedings have been deliberately kept low, for the reason that the programme committee aims to attract contributions from persons working both in developing as well as in more developed country contexts.

The programme committee is seeking out persons who have previously made, or are currently making a contribution in programme evaluation. We would welcome a contribution or contributions from you. You will find templates and examples of completed work as well as work in progress produced during our pre-conference workshop displayed on our conference website.

With kind regards
