DEPUTY DIRECTOR: MONITORING AND EVALUATION

Duties: The successful candidate will:

• Provide guidance pertaining to the updating and management of the Department’s monitoring & evaluation system.
• Develop and update monitoring & evaluation policies.
• Provide technical support to staff in determining outputs, indicators and targets.
• Ensure that all SRSA monitoring & evaluation documents meet Government and legislative requirements.
• Responsible for the development and reporting of the Service Delivery Improvement Plans of SRSA.
• Oversee the alignment of all monitoring & evaluation initiatives within SRSA.
• Monitor the implementation of the Department’s strategy and business plans.
• Oversee regular reporting on status and progress and facilitate the development of a framework for managing performance information.
• Ensure that SRSA keeps abreast with best practices in the field of monitoring & evaluation.
• Advise stakeholders, SRSA Ministry and Management on relevant issues.
• Make budget inputs for the Directorate and monitor expenditure.
• Assume responsibility for the supervision, performance management, discipline, mentoring and training of subordinates.

Skills/ Abilities required:

• Exceptional skill in effective verbal and written communications, including skill in presenting reports and facilitating workshops.
• Good computer skills to prepare technical reports and professional presentations.
• Editorial skills.
• Thorough knowledge of the principles and procedures for monitoring and evaluating.
• Skills in planning and project management and in maintaining composure under pressure while meeting multiple deadlines.
• Ability to establish and maintain harmonious working relationships with co-workers, staff and external contacts, and to work effectively in a professional team environment.
• An appreciation for business ethics and the capability to maintain confidentiality and sensitivity regarding work issues.
