2009/2010 Fundend Research Internships

SADC Research Centre is a socio-economic research and development agency working from bases in the Eastern and Western Cape. We work in partnership with our clients to contribute to improvements of the social and economic opportunities of communities we research. Key research interests are:
- Regional and spatial economic development with an emphasis on endogenous growth, LED, small town development, and linkages between urban and rural centres;
- Linkages between citizens needs, policy and Public Service Delivery, including evaluating consultation practices, service delivery mechanisms and modelling improvements;
- CRM, Marketing and communications research; and
- Conducting mixed methods socio-economic studies and programme evaluations
As part of an ongoing commitment to the development of research capacity the organisation has decided to extend the internship programme and would like to invite interested candidates to apply for one of the 6-month placements in either East London or Cape Town.
Interns will participate in a range of functions in order to experience the practicalities of the full research cycle. Each intern will be assessed at the beginning of the programme and an individual development programme will be established. The internships are funded. All candidates will be required to participate in an initial orientation after which successfully placed candidates will be paid a monthly stipend. Permanent placements may be made after the internship period.
Interns with demonstrable knowledge in any of the following areas are encouraged to apply:
- Public Administration; Economic Development; Agricultural Economics; Marketing and Communications; Psychology; Sociology; Development Studies; Anthropology; Statistics; Business Studies

Please note candidates will be short listed as CV’s arrive. Appointments may be made earlier if sufficient interest is received. Shortlisted candidates will be notified and will be required to present further oral and written submissions
