The Postgraduate Diploma in Monitoring & Evaluation Methods is a one year course covering the basic principles, concepts and methods used in M&E studies.

The programme will be of immediate benefit to everyone who is tasked with the design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of public programmes and interventions.

The programme consists of six modules plus a research report. The six modules are:

  • Module 1: General principles and paradigms of evaluation studies
  • Module 2: Clarificatory evaluation
  • Module 3: Process evaluation and programme monitoring
  • Module 4: Data collection methods for evaluation research
  • Module 5: Statistical and qualitative methods for evaluation studies
  • Module 6: Impact assessment designs

The programme is multi-modal in its delivery. Candidates in the programme are required to attend TWO one week contact schools. These schools will be offered in April and September of each year and will consist of seminars, lecturers, discussions and other contact modes of learning. These schools will be held at Stellenbosch University.
